Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Newcomers Shine in Victory Over Tulane

OXFORD, Miss. - In Ole Miss men’s tennis’ first match of the weekend, the Rebels defeated Tulane, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center to remain undefeated on the season at 4-0.
Freshman, Kai Milburn, and junior transfer, Marcel Kamrowski, made their Ole Miss debut against the Green Wave a memorable one by clinching the doubles point for the Rebels and each earning a singles victory in their respective matchups.
Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin brought the heat in doubles for the Rebels on court three against Tulane’s Maxim Kalinin and AJ Mercer. The Ole Miss freshmen pair notched a dominant 6-0 win to start the day for the Rebels.
The duo of Kamrowski and Milburn got to work on court one and secured a 6-4 win over Tulane’s Vincent Vohl and Asaf Friedler to capture the Rebel’s second victory of the day, clinching the doubles point for Ole Miss.

In singles, No. 123 Noah Schlagenhauf squared off against Tulane’s No. 101 Luka Petrovic on court one. The Nuertingen, Germany, native got up early and never looked back, securing a 6-1, 6-2 straight set win to put the Rebels up 2-0 over the Green Wave. This victory marks the junior’s first ranked win and his 12th singles win of the 2024-25 season.

Milburn and Kamrowski continued to make their Ole Miss debut a memorable one by each earning a singles victory in their respective matchups. Milburn etched a 6-4, 6-2 win over Tulane’s Mercer to tally his first collegiate singles match victory. Kamrowski earned his first singles win in a Rebel uniform over Tulane’s Hady El Kordy, 7-5, 6-2, which clinched the match for Ole Miss.

Despite Ole Miss securing the win, the rest of the singles courts continued to play out.
After dropping his first set, Chambonniere mounted the comeback by staying patient, eventually bouncing back over Kalinin, 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, 10-8.
Ole Miss will be back in action tomorrow against Georgia Southern at 3:00 p.m. CT at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center.
