Abby Herndon Selected to D1Softball’s D100 Freshman Watch List

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss softball freshman Abby Herndon has earned early recognition in her budding Rebel career, as she was selected to D1 Softball's D100 Freshman Watch List on Wednesday.
Herndon was named among a list of 100 national freshmen who were identified as potential impactful contributors in year one.
Ranked as the No. 28 player in the nation in the class of 2024 by Extra Innings Softball, Herndon brings a decorated resume from her high school career to Oxford. The 2023 AHSAA 4A Pitcher of the Year, Herndon has been one of the most dominant high school pitchers in the south, recording an ERA that hovered 1.00 over each of the last two seasons at Brooks High School in Killen, Ala.
The lefthander helped lead Brooks to an area title, Super Regional crown and state tournament appearance as a junior, before helping them reach the state final as a senior.
Herndon will factor into a 2025 pitching staff that features a mix of dynamic veterans in Aliyah Binford, Alison Cooper and Brianna Lopez and a group of talented freshmen, including Miali Guachino, Graycen Jordan and Persy Llamas.
Herndon and the Rebels will kick off their regular season on Thursday, February 6 at 10 a.m., as they face Clemson at the Paradise Classic, hosted by Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla.
