Ashton Lansdell Selected in First Round of Women’s Pro Baseball League Draft

11/21/2025 | Softball

OXFORD, Miss.  Former Ole Miss softball star Ashton Lansdell has been selected in the first round of the newly formed Women’s Pro Baseball League’s first draft.

Lansdell was picked seventh overall by the WPBL’s Los Angeles team, one of four teams in the new league set to begin play in 2026.

An impact player with the softball program in her lone season in Oxford, Lansdell returns to her baseball background, where she has been a member of the US Women’s National Team and became the first female to play baseball at the NJCAA level with Georgia Highlands College. Lansdell helped lead the Rebels with a combination of defense, speed and power in a historic campaign that saw the program reach its first ever Women’s College World Series.

Over her lone season in Oxford, Lansdell hit seven home runs and drove in 17 runs, while stealing seven bases. Lansdell anchored a number of positions on defense, making game-saving catches in wins over No. 6 Florida in the regular season and No. 23 Grand Canyon in the NCAA Regional.
