Ole Miss vs Alaska

Rifle Suffers First Loss of the Season to Alaska Fairbanks

11/8/2025 | Rifle

OXFORD, Miss. – Despite having the top three individual scorers of the match, No. 9 Ole Miss rifle fell to No. 8 Alaska Fairbanks, 4716-4709, Saturday afternoon at the Ole Miss Rifle Range.

Without sophomore sharpshooter Audrey Gogniat, who is competing at the ISSF World Championships in Cairo, Egypt, the Rebels (2-1, 1-1 PRC) still managed to shoot well against the defending PRC champions. Gracie Dinh, Jordan de Jesus and Regan Diamond swept the podium in aggregate scoring, but Alaska Fairbanks' depth overpowered Ole Miss' efforts.

In the first relay, Dinh led the way for all shooters, putting up an 1181 aggregate score. De Jesus and Diamond followed suit with a pair of 1180 aggregate scores to finish second and third, respectively. For all three, it's their best individual finishes of the season. For Dinh, it's her first individual victory since Ohio State last season, and her third overall.

Diamond highlighted the first relay's efforts in smallbore, shooting a match-high 590 in the discipline. That mark tied with Alaska Fairbanks' Amanda Pettersen, as both had the same score as well as 35 center shots. Diamond tied her career-high in the event and shot a perfect 200 in prone for the first time this season.

De Jesus joined Diamond with a perfect prone score, her second time doing so this season. She finished the event with a 587 score, finishing third behind Diamond and Pettersen. Dinh rounded out the top four of the individual leaderboard with a 585 in the first relay.

The match continued with air rifle, where Dinh showcased her skill. She finished the event with a 596 score, the highest by all shooters for the relay by two points. She started the event by hitting 22 consecutive 10's and finished strong by hitting the last 22 bullseyes of the event.

Behind Dinh was de Jesus, who shot a 593. Freshman Savannah Criddle, who made her first career appearance as a counter in smallbore earlier, shot an impressive 592 in air rifle to have the third-highest score among all Rebels in the relay. Diamond was the fourth Rebel in the relay with a 590, giving her a season-high 1180 for the day.

Susan Carter and Claudia Muzik were the remaining counters who participated in the second relay. At the conclusion of the smallbore portion of relay two, the Nanooks held the lead by a mere one point. However, they pulled ahead in air rifle when Ole Miss' remaining two counters couldn't improve on the first relay's scores.

Carter finished 11th overall in both disciplines, as well as in the aggregate. She shot a 577 in smallbore and 591 in air rifle for a season-high 1168 total. Sophomore Kayla Riewe had an impressive day in air rifle, firing a 593 for a season high, falling one point shy of a career best.

Up next, Ole Miss heads to Texas for the second time this fall, this time to face PRC rival TCU, on Nov. 16. Smallbore sighters will begin at 9 a.m. CT.
