Track & Field’s Kidus Misgina Sets Personal Best 5K Time in Boston
12/6/2025 | Track and Field
BOSTON – Kidus Misgina kicked off Ole Miss' indoor track and field season with a personal indoor best 13:38.45 finish in the 5k at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston on Saturday evening.
Misgina placed 15th in the first heat and 24th overall in the event, thanks to his personal-best time in the event. He topped his previous indoor best, which he set in last season's SEC Tournament, by nearly four seconds. He came just one seconds short of setting his overall personal best in the 5k, which he set during the outdoor season last year at the Virginia Challenge.
Last season, Toby Gillen set Ole Miss' program record in the indoor 5K at 13:28.34. Prior, Ryan Walling held the program best since 2016, a mark that stood for nine seasons. Walling's previous record has now been bested twice in as many seasons with Misgina claiming the second-fastest spot among Ole Miss' runners.
Misgina clocked an impressive 11th lap which put him in the top five racers for multiple foreseeable laps. It was at this point that Misgina's momentum propelled him into historic territory for Ole Miss. Despite slowing near the end, Misgina's mark will still sit among Ole Miss bests with the remainder of the indoor season to go.
