OXFORD, Miss. – As the final seconds ticked off the clock brought the end to the 2024-25 NFL season, Philadelphia Eagles receiver and former Ole Miss Rebel A.J. Brown realized his lifelong dream of becoming a Super Bowl champion.
In the Eagles’ 40-22 rout over the Kansas City Chiefs, Brown brought down three catches for 43 yards, scoring a 12-yard touchdown just before halftime to put Philadelphia up 24-0 heading into the break.

A Kid from Mississippi
A.J. Brown committed to Ole Miss out of Starkville High School in Starkville, Miss. In his time with the Rebels, he tallied 2,984 receiving yards, the most in Ole Miss history. The Tennessee Titans drafted Brown with the No. 51 pick in the 2019 NFL draft. After three seasons with Tennessee, he was traded to Philadelphia.
In his first two years with the Eagles, Brown topped 1,400 receiving yards both years, earning back-to-back second team All-Pro honors. Since being traded to Philadelphia, Brown has recorded 4,031 receiving yards, the fourth highest total in the league in that timeframe.
In Super Bowl LVII, Brown finished with six catches for 96 yards and a touchdown, a 45-yard grab on the first play of the second quarter. Despite his efforts, the Eagles dropped a close one to the Chiefs, 38-35.

Super Bowl Season
In the opening week of the 2024 NFL season, the Eagles had the opportunity to play in the NFL’s first game to ever take place in South America. Brown and Philadelphia beat the Green Bay Packers, 34-29, in São Paulo, Brazil. Brown had five catches for 119 yards and a touchdown, but would suffer a hamstring injury. He would miss the next three games while the Eagles went 1-2.
Brown returned with a vengeance on Oct. 13th against the Cleveland Browns, recording six catches for 116 yards and a touchdown in a 20-16 win, the beginning of a 10-game win streak for Philadelphia.
In Week 16, Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts went down with a concussion and the Eagles would lose to the Washington Commanders 36-33, despite Brown’s eight receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown. Brown finished the regular season with 67 catches, 1,079 receiving yards, and seven receiving touchdowns. In the game versus the Packers in Brazil, Brown connected with Hurts on a 67-yard touchdown to start the second half, his longest reception of the season.

Playoffs
In the wild card and divisional round, the Eagles relied on their ground game, as star running back Saquon Barkley led them to wins over the Packers and Los Angeles Rams. This would set up a rematch against the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship, the only team to beat the Eagles with A.J. Brown in the regular season.
Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels led the Commanders, and had just upset the top-seeded Detroit Lions. Despite this, the Eagles made a statement with a 55-23 win, the highest score by a single team in a conference championship game ever. Brown caught the only receiving touchdown of the day for the Eagles, one of six catches which resulted in 96 yards.

Lombardi No. 1 for 11
On Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, Brown became a Super Bowl champion for the first time in his career. The stage was set for one of the most anticipated Super Bowls in recent memory. Not only was it a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, but the Chiefs had the opportunity to be the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row.
On the other side, the Eagles hadn’t lost a single game all year in which Brown and Hurts were both healthy, a perfect 15-0 heading into the Super Bowl.
From the opening kickoff, it was clear that the record would soon be 16-0. After both teams were forced to punt on their opening drive, the Eagles grinded out a seven play, 69-yard drive, culminating in a Jalen Hurts rushing touchdown from the one-yard line.
In the second quarter, with the score 10-0 in the Eagle’s favor, cornerback Cooper Dejean intercepted Patrick Mahomes and returned it to the endzone to give the Eagles a three-possession lead. With 1:49 left in the first half, linebacker Zack Baun intercepted Mahomes at the 14 yard line. After a two-yard rush by Hurts, he connected with Brown for a 12-yard touchdown to make it 24-0 Philadelphia going into the half.

In the second half, the Eagles kept their foot on the pedal, eventually downing the reigning champs, 40-22. Fittingly, the Eagles’ superstar duo of receivers, A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith, were the ones who doused head coach Nick Sirianni with yellow Gatorade as the game came to a close, giving Brown his first career Super Bowl ring.
