Men’s Tennis Falls in Close Matchup at Arkansas, 4-3

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - No. 51 Ole Miss men's tennis dropped its first SEC match of the 2024-25 season to No. 37 Arkansas, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
The Rebels (8-2, 0-1 SEC) fought valiantly against the Razorbacks (11-3, 1-0 SEC) despite falling behind in doubles play, but Arkansas was able to pull out a victory on its home courts.
Marcel Kamrowski and Noah Schlagenhauf came out ready to go against the Razorbacks. The junior duo secured a dominant 6-2 win over Arkansas' Marino Jakic and Lukas Palovic to notch the lone victory on the doubles court for Ole Miss.
Going into singles down one, Isac Strömberg secured the Rebels first singles win on the day over Marino Jakic in straight sets. The junior dominated 6-4,6-2 over Arkansas' student-athlete to put Ole Miss on the board.
Freshman Matthieu Chambonniere mounted a 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-1 comeback over his opponent Benni Emesz on court five. This win marked the Paris, Île-de-France, native's 15th singles win of the season and eighth of the spring to remain undefeated.
Schlagenhauf notched the Rebels final singles win of the day on court two. The junior did what he does best and earned a gritty three set 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 win over Lukas Palovic.
The Rebels will be back in action on Monday, Feb. 24, when they will head down south to Austin, Texas to square off against No. 4 Texas at the Texas Tennis Center at 1:00 p.m. CT.
