No. 3 Men’s Golf Finishes Sixth at Pauma Valley Invitational

PAUMA VALLEY, Calif. – The No. 3 Ole Miss men's golf team concluded play Tuesday evening at the Pauma Valley Invitational. In a field with six of the top 10 teams in the nation, the Rebels finished sixth with a team score of (E, 852). Cameron Tankersley led the way for Ole Miss finishing in a tie for seventh.
Tankersley went low in round two which continued Tuesday morning with a score of (3, 68). He carded five birdies, including a bogey-free back nine. He would enter the clubhouse in third with 18 holes to play.
Michael La Sasso, Kye Meeks and Tom Fischer grinded through round two which began Monday and carried over into Tuesday morning. La Sasso got off to a rocky start but finished strong on his back nine shooting (-2, 34). He would card a second-round score of (+1, 72). Meeks and Fischer would post rounds of (+3, 74) and (+4, 75).
La Sasso and Fischer had the low rounds of the day for the Rebels in the final round, posting (-2, 69) to conclude their weeks in California.
Tankersley would card a final round of (E, 71) securing a T7 finish. It marks his fourth top 10 finish of the season and first this spring. Fischer posted a T19 finish securing his fourth top 25 finish in the last five events.
As a team Ole Miss ranked second in par 3 scoring on the week. Michael La Sasso had the fifth most birdies among the field and Tankersley had the second most pars.
Ole Miss will be off the remainder of March before returning to play at the Mason Rudolph Championship April 4-6. Vanderbilt Legends Club will be the site with the Commodores set to serve as the host school.
