No. 1 Men’s Golf Tied for Fourth After 18 Holes at Cabo Collegiate

LOS CABOS, Mexico – After 18 holes of play at Twin Dolphin Club, the No. 1 Ole Miss men's golf team sits in a tie for fourth at the Cabo Collegiate. The Rebels posted a team score of (+4, 288) and were led by Michael La Sasso who carded a round of two-under 69.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH MALLOY
"Today certainly wasn't our best display of golf with too many big numbers that we need to address. Golf is tough sometimes though and we need to take the good with the bad. I can't wait to see how these guys respond tomorrow."
La Sasso started hot on his front, birding three straight before a double bogey on nine halted the momentum. He would bounce back with a birdie on 11 and added another with a lengthy putt on the par 5 16th. His round of 69 marks his 10th round in the 60s this season.
Tom Fischer put together a solid round of even par and sits T12 after round one. Fischer was two-under through his first nine but ran into a little trouble on the back. He would grind out four consecutive pars after a bogey on 12, posting his 10th round of even par or better on the season.
Kye Meeks grinded out a score of (+1, 72) and sits T17 after 18 holes at Twin Dolphin Club.
Collins Trolio, Cameron Tankersley, and Cohen Trolio didn't have their best game in round one but competed until the last putt. Tankersley carded five birdies on the day but ran into trouble on his back nine. Collins Trolio carded three birdies on his round, taking advantage of both par 5s on the back nine.
Ole Miss will gear up for round two beginning tomorrow morning with a 9:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
