No. 1 Men’s Golf Completes Round One at SEC Championship
4/23/2025 | Men's Golf
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – After 18 holes of play at the SEC Championship, the No. 1 Ole Miss men's golf team sits tied for 10th. The Rebels carded a team score of (281, +1) Wednesday at Sea Island Golf Club.
"This certainly wasn't the round of golf that we expected to play" said head coach Chris Malloy. "Just way too many unforced errors that prevented us from getting any momentum started. The good news is we have two more rounds to play before it's cut to eight teams. I fully expect our guys to play well."
The Seaside Course showed its teeth Wednesday morning as Ole Miss tallied just one under-par score. Momentum just couldn't quite get rolling with the flat stick as the Rebels carded 10 birdies as a team.
Kye Meeks had the low round of the day for Ole Miss with a two-under 68. He took advantage of the shorter par 4s on both the first and second nine, tallying four birdies over the course of round one.
Michael La Sasso posted even-par 70 and now has 22 rounds of even or below-par on the season.
Tom Fischer grinded out a score of one-over 71, carding four circles over his first 18 holes. After falling to three-over through 10, Cameron Tankersley would finish his round one-under over his final eight holes to post a two-over 72.
Round two begins Thursday morning with tee times ranging between 7-9 a.m. CT.
