No. 3 Men’s Golf Sits Second After Two Rounds at Tallahassee Regional
5/13/2025 | Men's Golf
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 3 Ole Miss men's golf sits in second place after 36 holes at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. The Rebels posted (287, -1) in round two and were led by Michael La Sasso who shot three-under 69.
La Sasso notched his 17th round in the 60s this season, giving him sole possession of the second most rounds in the 60s in a single season by an Ole Miss Rebel. Braden Thornberry carded 23 rounds in the 60s during the 2016-17 campaign.
La Sasso gained momentum early as he found himself two-under through six holes. He carded a bogey-free 34 on his second nine with back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15. La Sasso is tied for third place at five under-par.
Cameron Tankersley shot one-under 71 and is T15 after two rounds at Seminole Legacy Golf Club. Tankersley got it rolling on No. 6 as he would birdie three of his next four holes to close out the front nine. He picked up his fourth circle of the day on the par 5 14th. Tankersley now has 17 rounds in red figures this season.
Tom Fischer and Cohen Trolio battled the breezy winds and speedy greens in round two. Fischer posted two-over 74 and sits in a tie for 28th. Trolio would eagle the par 5 4th to jumpstart his round but mustered just one more birdie the rest of the afternoon.
With today's under-par round, the 2024-25 team now holds the program record for the most rounds under-par in a single season in program history with 23. The previous record of 22 was set by the 2021-22 team and again by the 2022-23 squad.
At the conclusion of tomorrow's final round, the top five teams, as well as the top individual from a non-advancing team, will advance to the NCAA Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, May 23-28.
Ole Miss looks to make it the seventh NCAA Championship berth by a Rebel team and the first since 2022. Ole Miss has been to 12 NCAA Championships, counting both team and individual appearances.
