Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan Wins Third Straight SEC Hammer Title, Rebel Men Score 23 Total Points
5/15/2025 | Track and Field
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Ole Miss track & field star junior Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan successfully defended his crown as the SEC hammer champ, while the Rebel men totalled a whopping 23 total points in the event to start things off at the 2025 SEC Outdoor Championships on Thursday.
Robinson-O'Hagan came out of the gates swinging hard, essentially ending the competition on his monstrous first throw of 75.72m/248-5. That throw registered as a near four-foot PR for The Bowerman watch list member, and it launched him all the way to No. 4 in SEC history, No. 21 in collegiate history, while this year that ranks him fifth collegiately and sixth among all throwers in the United States.
The Rhode Island native is the first SEC men's athlete to pull off the three-peat in the hammer since LSU's Walter Henning, who took three in a row from 2009-11. In total, Robinson-O'Hagan is now only the third athlete in SEC history to claim three hammer titles in a row alongside Henning and Georgia's Andras Haklits (2000-02) – who still holds the SEC hammer record overall at his 78.63m/258-0 from 2002.
Senior Jake Dalton also returned to his spot atop the podium with Robinson-O'Hagan as the SEC runner-up for the second straight season. Dalton took the silver medal on a toss of 68.51m/224-9, and was followed by additional scorers Bryson Smith in fifth (67.64m/221-11) and Mason Hickel in eighth (65.22m/214-0; PR).
Those 23 total hammer points scored by the Rebel men rank as the third most by any one school since 2003, trailing 26 by Georgia in 2003 and the 2024 Ole Miss unit that notched 24 points.
