MEET NOTES
• Ole Miss enters ranked No. 21 nationally in the latest men's USTFCCCA Rating Index. Other ranked men's SEC teams are: No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 Tennessee, No. 5 Georgia, No. 9 Arkansas, No. 10 Auburn, No. 12 Alabama, No. 14 Florida, No. 15 LSU, No. 17 Texas, No. 20 Oklahoma and No. 23 Mississippi State.
• Top-25 women's teams are: No. 1 Georgia, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 6 South Carolina, No. 11 Florida, No. 12 Oklahoma, No. 13 Texas, No. 19 LSU, No. 23 Alabama, No. 24 Auburn and No. 25 Tennessee.
• Ole Miss has won 60 SEC Outdoor individual titles, 42 from the men and 18 from the women. Of those, 23 have come under 10th-year head coach Connie Price-Smith (13 men, 10 women).
• Price-Smith owns three of the five top-five SEC Outdoor finishes in combined program history at Ole Miss, including the lone two on the women's side -- highlighted by a program-record fourth-place finish in 2023.
• With 838.75 points in only eight SEC Outdoor meets, Price-Smith already owns 29.6 percent of all Rebel points scored at the outdoor conference meets since 1980. That includes 22.8 percent of all men's outdoor points (387.5) and 39.9 percent of all women's outdoor points (451.25).
• Ole Miss returns four SEC Outdoor medalists from the 2024 squad: Commissioner's Trophy winner Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan (men's shot put, gold; men's hammer, gold), senior Jake Dalton (men's hammer, silver), sophomore Akaoma Odeluga (women's shot put, bronze), and junior Arvesta Troupe (men's high jump, bronze).
• Robinson-O'Hagan -- the three-time reigning national shot put champion -- has been a one-man wrecking crew for the Rebels at every conference meet of his career thus far. In less than three full seasons, he owns seven SEC titles (three outdoors), 84 career SEC points and has won at least a share of the SEC points trophy in each of his last three conference outings dating back to the 2024 indoor season.
• Robinson-O'Hagan's sweep of the hammer and shot put last outdoor season put him in rare company as one of three in SEC history to do so in the same meet alongside Georgia's Denzel Comenentia (2017, '18) and Auburn's Cory Martin (2007, '08). Combined with his first-ever indoor sweep of the weight and shot, he became the first in conference history to pull off both sweeps. Robinson-O'Hagan can continue that streak this week as well, as he swept the weight and shot again this past indoor season.
• Furthermore, last season Robinson-O'Hagan became the first to throw 68 feet in the shot put at an SEC meet since Comenentia in 2018, and only the second to do so twice in the same field series at the conference meet alongside Georgia's Brett Noon in 1995.
• This season, Robinson-O'Hagan ranks second nationally and leads the SEC in the shot put at 20.75m/68-1 from his outdoor open at Florida's Tom Jones Memorial last month. He also leads the SEC and ranks sixth nationally in the hammer at his open of 74.54m/244-7 that tied his previous school record set at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials.
• Robinson-O'Hagan is one of four men's athletes to have appeared on every watch list thus far for The Bowerman -- collegiate track & field's version of the Heisman Trophy -- which includes the latest update released on May 8. Robinson-O'Hagan was a semifinalist for The Bowerman in 2024 following a spectacular sophomore campaign that saw him sweep the NCAA men's shot put titles. Robinson O'Hagan is the first Ole Miss men's thrower to make the watch list, and only the fourth in Rebel men's history overall alongside Olympians Ricky Robertson (2012), Isiah Young (2013) and Sam Kendricks.
• This season, Robinson-O'Hagan is currently the lone collegian and one of two throwers worldwide to simultaneously break 240 feet in the hammer and 69 feet in the shot (when including his indoor best of 21.11m/69-03.25).
• Two months ago at the NCAA Indoor Championships, Robinson-O'Hagan secured his third consecutive national title in the shot put (20.49m/67-02.75), while also taking fifth in a stacked weight throw competition (24.09m/79-00.75). Those finishes each earned All-America status and contributed 14 NCAA points to the Rebel men's 20-point total and tie for 10th-place overall, which was the second-best indoor finish in Ole Miss men's history.
• Robinson-O'Hagan is one of only 10 athletes in Division I history to win at least three shot put crowns in a row across the indoor and outdoor seasons, only the second three-peat by an SEC athlete alongside South Carolina's Brad Snyder (1998 indoor, '98 outdoor, '99 indoor).
• He finished undefeated in the shot put among collegiate competitors this indoor season, and has not lost to a fellow collegian overall since last April and indoors since last January.
• As a sophomore in 2024, Robinson-O'Hagan became the youngest to sweep the NCAA men's shot put titles indoors and outdoors since 1989, as well as the fourth-youngest to do so all-time.
• In less than three full seasons with the Rebels, Robinson-O'Hagan has laid waste to the Ole Miss record book, claiming top marks in the weight throw (24.35m/79-10.75) and shot put (21.11m/69-03.25) indoors, and the hammer (74.54m/244-7) and shot put (20.98m/68-10) outdoors. In addition to his seven career SEC titles (four indoor) and 84 career SEC points scored, he owns three national titles, 10 All-America awards and 47 NCAA points.
• Robinson-O'Hagan leads a Rebel men's hammer squad that currently ranks second nationally in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings -- a crew that also includes all four returning scorers from a historic 2024 unit. Senior Jake Dalton took silver behind Robinson-O'Hagan last season and currently ranks second behind him in the SEC and 12th nationally at 69.72m/228-9. Other scorers last year included Costen Campion in fourth and Mason Hickel in eighth, giving Ole Miss a whopping 24 points in the men's hammer alone -- the most by a single team since Georgia's 26 in 2003.
• Senior Bryson Smith gives the Rebels an added punch in 2025, ranking third in the conference behind Robinson-O'Hagan and Dalton, as well as 15th nationally at his career-best 69.12m/226-9. Hickel currently rests ninth in the SEC at his PR 64.06m/210-2.
• All-American junior Arvesta Troupe will look to nab his third straight SEC medal in the high jump, after taking bronze outdoors last spring and silver this past indoor season. Troupe currently ranks second in the SEC and 11th nationally at his outdoor PR of 2.20m/7-02.50. Troupe is one of four Rebel men all-time to reach 7-foot-2 both indoors and outdoors.
• Meanwhile, the Rebel women's shot put squad currently leads the way in the NCAA with a mark average of 16.70m/54-9.25. All-American sophomore and reigning SEC Outdoor bronze medalist Akaoma Odeluga still holds the SEC lead on her career-best 18.93m/62-01.25 at LSU's Battle on the Bayou back in March, which ranks second nationally this season as well as 13th in collegiate history.
• Fellow All-American sophomore Mensi Stiff ranks No. 22 in the NCAA with her season-best 17.01m/55-9.75, also from LSU's Battle on the Bayou. Transfer junior Opal Jackson's season-best 15.92m/52-02.75 and sophomore Skylar Soli's recent career-best of 14.92m/48-11.50 also contribute to the average.
• Odeluga also posted a career-best 65.33m/214-4 in the hammer last month at Florida, placing her fifth in school history and No. 23 in the current NCAA rankings. That heave marked a 12-foot improvement on her previous career-best of 61.80m/202-9 she set at the Joe Walker Invite one week prior.
• That performance, combined with her mark in the shot put, makes her the first woman in Ole Miss history and one of only two in collegiate history to break 62 feet in the shot put and 210 feet in the hammer alongside former Arizona State national champion Maggie Ewen.
• Soli is also in scoring contention in the hammer, currently ranking sixth in the SEC and 37th nationally at her career-best 62.50m/205-1 from the LSU Invite two weeks ago. Soli scored in the hammer as a freshman, and took silver in the weight throw this past indoor season.
• Sophomore John Kendricks put together a career day in the pole vault his last time out at the LSU Invite, clearing an overall PR of 5.42m/17-09.25. That height puts him third in Ole Miss history outdoors, where he only trails 1984 SEC Champion Baker Vinci (5.43m/17-10) and his older brother, three-time Olympian Sam Kendricks (5.81m/19-00.75). This season, that height puts Kendricks 23rd nationally and fifth in the SEC.
• Senior Drew O'Connor also enters this week in scoring contention, ranking seventh in the SEC and 40th nationally at his season-best 5.30m/17-04.50.
• The Ole Miss men's sprints crew is off to a strong start under first-year coach Morrie Turner, and this week will be highlighted by individual entries from junior Joseph Michel in the 100-meter dash, freshman Jordan Urrutia in the 200-meter dash, and a quartet each in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays.
• Michel has had an excellent outdoor campaign for the Rebels, particularly in the 100-meter. He enters the conference meet ranked eighth in the SEC and 22nd nationally at his slightly windy all-conditions career-best 10.10 (+2.6) from Florida's Tom Jones Memorial last month, which made him the fastest Rebel since Olympian Isiah Young in 2013 and the second-fastest overall in the Ole Miss record books (which accept up to the NCAA qualifying allowable 4.0 meters per second wind reading). Michel also ranks 14th in Ole Miss history in the 200 at his all-conditions best 20.88 (+2.6) from the LSU Invite two weeks ago.
• Urrutia holds an even faster 200-meter time from the same meet, currently ranked tied for 11th in the Ole Miss record books at his all-conditions best 20.83 (+2.9). Earlier in the season in the 400-meter dash, Urrutia clocked a 46.84 -- the fastest by a Rebel since 2004 that ranks him 13th all-time outdoors. Urrutia also holds a top-15 time in the 100 as well, ranking 15th at his all-conditions best 10.39 (+2.7).
• Both Michel and Urrutia have been key figures on the Rebel relays as well. Ole Miss' best times in both the 4x1 and 4x4 come courtesy of the Rebels' two home meets. In the 4x100 at the Ole Miss Classic to open the season, the quartet of Michel, Urrutia, and fellow freshmen Wesley Todd and Tarique Wright passed the stick in 39.71 -- the fastest by a Rebel 4x1 since 2015 that ranks the foursome fifth in Ole Miss history.
• At the Joe Walker Invite two weeks later, the 4x4 unit of Todd, freshman Max Armstrong and junior Carson Turner ran to victory in 3:07.91 -- the fastest at Ole Miss outdoors since 2012 that ranks 14th all-time. Urrutia blazed an anchor split of 46.01, while Turner put in a 46.90 on the third leg.
• Armstrong and Turner found success in the 800-meter in the Florida heat last month as well. Armstrong finished fifth in the invitational section at a career-best 1:47.68, placing him 12th in Ole Miss history and 47th in the NCAA this season, while Turner followed right behind him in sixth with a career-best 1:47.69, placing him 13th in school history and 48th nationally.
• Sophomore Lizzie Hatton's all-conditions career-best in the long jump from the Joe Walker Invite of 6.34m/20-09.75 (+2.9) still sits within the national top-25 at No. 25, as well as 12th in the East and seventh in the conference. That distance tied her for fourth in school history and was the furthest by a Rebel since 2010.
• Senior Dieusi Armand climbed up the rankings in the triple jump as well at the Joe Walker Invite with an all-conditions career-best leap of 13.02m/42-08.75 (+2.2). That jump ranks her second in Ole Miss history, as well as 32nd in the NCAA and sixth in the SEC this season. Armand is one of only three Rebel women to leap 42-feet outdoors along with Olympian Brittney Reese and freshman Madison Martinez -- who ranks third all-time at Ole Miss in addition to 46th nationally this season at her career-best 12.92m/42-04.75 (+0.0) from LSU back in March.
• Freshman Lily Beattie improved yet again her last time out to an outdoor career-best 4.11m/13-05.75, improving upon her spot at sixth in program history outdoors. Beattie is one of six Rebel women to clear the 13-5 mark both indoors and outdoors, and her height right now has her within regional qualifying contention at No. 37 in the East Region.
• Ole Miss' men's distance squad will receive three crucial 5K-10K double attempts this week from key seniors Aiden Britt, Toby Gillen and Kidus Misgina.
• At the Virginia Challenge last month, Misgina clocked the fourth-fastest 5K in Ole Miss history at 13:37.29 -- currently good for 19th in the East Region and fifth in the SEC. This came just two weeks after he shattered the Ole Miss 10K record in his outdoor Rebel debut with a time of 28:20.19 at the Stanford Invite -- dismantling the previous record by 24 seconds. That 10K time still ranks Misgina 34th nationally, eighth in the East Region and fifth in the SEC.
• Britt followed at 28:26.41, which ranks second all-time at Ole Miss behind Misgina and would have broken the previous Rebel record by 18 seconds himself. That time currently ranks Britt 25th in the East Region and eighth in the SEC.
• Gillen's 5K of 13:26.92 from Stanford -- which narrowly missed the Ole Miss record -- also still ranks highly, currently sitting at No. 12 in the NCAA, No. 4 in the East Region and third in the SEC.
• Junior Evan Thornton-Sherman enters within scoring contention in the 5K as well, ranking 25th in the East and eighth in the conference at his PR 13:38.09 from the Stanford Invite back in early April.
