Michael La Sasso Named a 2024-2025 Haskins Award Finalist

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Ole Miss junior golfer Michael La Sasso has been named a 2024-2025 Haskins Award presented by Stifel Finalist the foundation announced Friday. La Sasso is one of 10 collegiate golfers to be named a finalist for the award.
Building off a sophomore All-American campaign, La Sasso has been nothing short of special his junior season. He has helped guide the Rebels to their first No. 1 ranking in program history. La Sasso leads the team with a 69.51 scoring average and has 23 rounds under-par on the year.
The First Team All-SEC selection has tallied the second most rounds in the 60s in a single season in program history at 18.
The Raleigh, North Carolina native broke through for his first collegiate win back in the fall at the Hamptons Intercollegiate. La Sasso posted (201, -15) winning the tournament by 11 strokes.
He notched his second victory of the season in the team's regular season finale at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship. Alongside his teammate Tom Fischer, La Sasso carded (203, -13) which tied the individual low-54 in tournament history.
La Sasso has helped Ole Miss to three wins this season, marking the most victories since 2016-17. The Rebels have finished inside the top two eight times with La Sasso placing inside the top five in four of those events. He is currently ranked the No. 4 NCAA Division I individual golfer.
He was also selected to represent Team USA in the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup, marking the second straight year he will compete for the United States.
At the NCAA Tallahassee Regional, La Sasso helped Ole Miss secure their 13th NCAA Championship appearance in program history. The No. 3 Rebels finished in second place with the runner-up finish marking the best in an NCAA Regional in program history.
La Sasso posted a final round six-under 66 to finish tied for second. His runner-up finish is the second-best finish in an NCAA Regional by an Ole Miss Rebel behind Jackson Suber, who took home individual honors in 2022.
Beginning in 1971, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top male U.S. collegiate golfer as voted on by only college golfers, coaches and members of the golf media. Past winners of the Haskins Award presented by Stifel have captured 33 major championships and more than 400 professional tournaments around the world.
Named in honor of Fred Haskins, the award is managed by the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top male golfer at the end of the season and to match the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel, which acknowledges the top female Division I collegiate golfer.
Stifel, one of the nation's leading wealth management and investment banking firms, serves as the presenting sponsor of both the ANNIKA and Haskins Awards, recognizing annually the most outstanding NCAA Division I female and male college golfers. Ole Miss continues to prep for the NCAA Championship May 23-28, at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, in Carlsbad, California. The Championship will feature 30 teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams.
