SERIES HISTORY
Ole Miss and Tennessee will share the basketball court for the 63rd time in its shared history. The Lady Volunteers hold a 53-9 advantage in a series that dates to 1977. Ole Miss ended an eight-game losing skid to Tennessee in 2024 with an 80-75 victory in Oxford. Marquesha Davis led the Rebels with 23 points while Madison Scott secured a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Last time against the Lady Vols, KK Deans led the way with 22 points, but the Rebels fell, 80-71 in Knoxville. Eighteen of Deans' points were from beyond the arc, and she was one of four Rebels to score at least 10 points. Defensively, Ole Miss forced 20 Tennessee turnovers while recording 11 steals.

Ole Miss legend Peggie Gillom had the best individual scoring effort in program history against Tennessee in 1978. She scored 45 points off 21 made field goals. That record has stood the test of time and remains the highest-scoring game by a Rebel in Ole Miss history.

Likewise, it's the most points scored against a Lady Volunteer squad in their history.

SCOUTING THE LADY VOLUNTEERS
Kim Caldwell is in her second season of command of Tennessee's historic women's basketball program. Last season, she guided Tennessee to a 24-10 overall record and an 8-8 mark in SEC play. Under her tutelage, the Lady Volunteers made a statement victory over eventual NCAA champ UConn, the first by UT over the Huskies since 2007.

This season, Tennessee has been a beast in conference play. The Lady Volunteers are 14-3 overall and 6-0 against SEC foes. Their only losses have come from nationally ranked squads NC State, UCLA and Louisville. Momentum is also on Tennessee's side, as its coming off two wins against ranked opponenets in No. 21 Alabama and No. 11 Kentucky last time out.

Tennessee features a quartet of double-digit scorers, headed by the guard-forward duo of Talaysia Cooper and Janiah Barker. Both players put up at least 14 points per game and at least five rebounds per game to boot. Barker's 6.9 boards per game is tied with Zee Spearman for the team lead. Meanwhile, Cooper's 4.1 assists per game are tops for the team. She's also a highly capable defender, averaging 3.38 steals per game, which is fourth in the SEC and top 15 nationally.

Spearman and Barker are dominant in the paint, especially on their side of the court. The pair have made Tennessee the nation's ninth-best offensive rebounding team in the country, bringing in 16.7 per game. Spearman brings in 3.3 offensive boards while Barker has 2.1.

Facing Tennessee means Ole Miss is facing back-to-back quality three-point shooting teams. Tennessee is second in the SEC in 3-pointers per game with 9.7 on average, which is sixth nationally. However, the Lady Volunteers rank near the bottom of the conference in long distance percentage, making only 30.4 percent of those shots.

Other notable Volunteers are Mia Pauldo and Nya Robertson. Pauldo, alongside twin sister Mya, is one of the most promising freshmen in the SEC this season. She averages 12.1 points per game while adding 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists. As for Robertson, she's entering Monday's matchup with the ninth-most points by any active SEC player with 1495 throughout her four-year collegiate career.

LAST TIME OUT
Cotie McMahon's heroics propelled Ole Miss women's basketball to a dominant 82-61 victory over Missouri Thursday evening in Mizzou Arena.

McMahon had by far her most complete performance for the Rebels, scoring a 33-point double-double, which ties her career high in points. She's the first Rebel to score 30 points this season, the first Rebel since Madison Scott to do so, and her point total is the most by a Rebel since Marquesha Davis had the same amount against Florida on March 8, 2024. She tied her season best in rebounds with 12, while also running the point and dropping five dimes. Most of her offensive success came in the second half, scoring 24 of her points in quarters three and four. She went 9-for-13 from the field in the second half.

As a team, Ole Miss held Missouri to 34.4 percent from the floor and allowed only four threes on 20 attempts. The Tigers entered the game averaging nearly 40 percent from long range while making nine per game.

Defensively, Latasha Lattimore and Sira Thienou kept one of the best shooting teams in the country at bay. Lattimore played vigorous defense the entire evening, blocking four shots. She's had eight games this season with at least three blocks. Last time a Rebel had that many games with such a feat was Rita Igbokwe, who accomplished the feat in the 2022-23 season.

Meanwhile, Thienou paced the team with four steals. One of Ole Miss' best thieves, Thienou has had multiple steals in 12 games this season.

Both players scored north of 10 points, with Thienou's 17-point and 10-rebound performance marking her first career double-double.

SHE'S THE mcMAHON
Cotie McMahon has provided a spark to the Ole Miss offense in her first season in Oxford. She scored at least 10 points in each of Ole Miss' first 19 games this season, tying Bianca Thomas for the longest such streak in recent memory by a Rebel, who started the 2009-10 season with 19 consecutive games of double-digit points.

On the season, McMahon has 11 games north of 20 points. She is looking to surpass former Rebels Arminte Price and Clara Jackson who each earned 12 games of 20+ points during the 2005-06 and 1993-94 seasons, respectively.

McMahon likes to share the love, as the four times that she has earned a double-double in a game, another Rebel has earned the same feat. Alongside McMahon, Christeen Iwuala earned double-doubes against Southern and Memphis, Latasha Lattimore earned one against Wofford and Sira Thienou notched a double-double versus Missouri.
