Women’s Basketball Drops Game to No. 18/19 Kentucky
2/15/2026 | Women's Basketball
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 14/16 Ole Miss women's basketball fell to No. 18/19 Kentucky, 74-57, Sunday afternoon in Lexington at Historic Memorial Coliseum.
Ole Miss (20-6, 7-4 SEC) made a valiant second half effort to make a comeback, but lost steam in the fourth quarter. Latasha Lattimore recorded her third consecutive double-double, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Her and teammate Christeen Iwuala have both had three-game double-double streaks this season, which previously hadn't happened since Madison Scott did so in the 2022-23 season.
Lattimore added three blocks to her stat line, a feat she's done 10 times this season. She's the first Rebel since the 2021-22 season to have at least three blocks in 10 games in a single season. Now at 56 blocks this season, she has the most by any Rebel in a single season since 2021-22 as well.
Cotie McMahon and Iwuala both joined Lattimore in the double-digit scoring club for the day, adding 18 and 10 points, apiece. McMahon led the team with her total, which is her 18th time doing so this season, and moved into the top five of career points by any Rebel with 1999.
Kentucky's (20-7, 7-6 SEC) Clara Strack scored 28 points against Ole Miss and also paced the team in rebounds with nine.
Ole Miss struck first, but Kentucky would take an early lead. A 3-pointer from Debreasha Powe cut the lead back to a single possession, and a pair of free throws from the senior kept it that way after Kentucky started to pull away again. Iwuala opened with solid defense against the Wildcats, securing two blocks and a steal by the end of the first. Despite Powe's offense and Iwuala's defense, Ole Miss still fell behind 17-11 entering the second.
The Wildcats opened strong in the second quarter and began to pull away in the scoring. They scored 19 unanswered points while the Rebels struggled to gain momentum. Kentucky continued to build its lead until the half concluded with Ole Miss behind, 39-20.
Ole Miss began to string together some buckets at the beginning of the third, thanks to a 3-pointer from McMahon. Her basket kickstarted a 9-2 scoring run for the Rebels to minimize the lead. McMahon added seven points to the box score by the third quarter's media timeout. Lattimore played strong on the boards, hauling in seven in the quarter alone to give her the double-double. The Rebels outscored the Wildcats, 22-16, in the quarter to get closer to the lead but still trailed 55-42 with 10 minutes remaining.
The momentum stayed with the Rebels early in the fourth as Ole Miss went on a 9-0 scoring run to bring Kentucky's lead back down to single digits. In that span, McMahon made a 3-pointer and another bucket from the paint to get Ole Miss within six points. However, midway through the fourth quarter, much of the energy Ole Miss had had been spent. In the final stretch, Kentucky applied more pressure that Ole Miss did not respond to, resulting in the final score of 74-57.
Ole Miss will return to Oxford to take on Tennessee next time out, after the matchup was rescheduled due to the impact of Winter Storm Fern. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on Feb. 17 at the SJB Pavilion, and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
