Softball Blanks Central Arkansas

4/1/2026 | Softball

CONWAY, Ark. – For the second straight day, the Ole Miss softball program picked up a non-conference shutout, defeating Central Arkansas, 5-0, on Wednesday night at Farris Field at Natalie Shock Stadium.

Cassie Reasner remained red hot, launching another home run to propel the Rebel (25-15, 2-10 SEC) offense, while Persy Llamas added another three hits and an RBI. Kyra Aycock and Emilee Boyer combined for seven shutout frames against the Bears (23-15, 5-4 ASUN) in the circle.

Much like Tuesday's victory, the Rebels started slowly, but were sparked in the second inning by Reasner. The junior made it three consecutive at-bats with a home run dating back to Tuesday, blasting the first pitch she saw to make it 1-0.

Aycock cruised through the first three frames, generating seven groundouts and one double play. The senior continued to remain calm in the face of a Bears rally attempt in the fourth inning, generating a key grounder to Reasner, who got the Bears runner coming home at the plate to preserve the 1-0 advantage.

The Rebels began to pull away in the fifth inning, thanks to singles from Laylonna Applin and Liesl Osteen. Kennedy Bunker generated a run and reached safely on an error on the next at-bat, before a Mackenzie Pickens RBI groundout extended the lead to 3-0. For good measure, Llamas delivered some two-out magic, lacing a single up the middle to score Cassidy Patterson and make it a 4-0 advantage.

Aycock finished off her night in the fifth inning, generating another double play and additional groundout to polish off five scoreless frames, before giving way to Boyer. Boyer picked up where Aycock left off and worked around a sixth inning single to preserve the shutout.

The Rebels quickly added insurance in the seventh inning, as Bunker nearly had a home run, but settled for a double off the top of the outfield fence. That set up Pickens, who roped an RBI single to score Bunker and make it 5-0.

That was all Boyer needed, as the senior picked up a strikeout and two ground outs in the bottom half of the frame to secure the victory.

The Rebels have several days off, before welcoming Samford to Oxford for a Tuesday night matchup on Apr. 7 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
