Track & Field’s Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan Makes History, Wins Fourth Straight SEC Hammer Title
5/14/2026 | Track and Field
AUBURN, Ala. – Ole Miss track & field star senior Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan opened his final conference meet the only way he knows how: winning.
Robinson-O'Hagan overcame uncharacteristic early struggles to become the first in SEC history to win four consecutive men's hammer titles, highlighting a productive first day of action for Ole Miss at the 2026 SEC Outdoor Championships on Thursday.
In second is where Robinson-O'Hagan would remain until the fifth round, when he let one sail 72.69m/238-6 to snatch the lead from Innes for good. As the runner-up entering the final, Robinson-O'Hagan had to wait for Innes' final attempt, but a sector foul out the right side clinched victory for Robinson-O'Hagan – marking him in record book immortality in the process.
Robinson-O'Hagan's march to becoming the first four-time hammer champ in SEC history began with a stunning shot across the bow as a freshman in 2023, and his reign of dominance has ruled ever since. In his career, Robinson-O'Hagan's average margin of victory in the SEC hammer final is an incredible 9-foot-2 (2.79 meters), which includes two wins over his own teammates – one of which was a monster 23-foot-8 (7.21 meters) victory in 2025.
Lost in the historic nature of Robinson-O'Hagan's win today was yet another powerful showing from the Rebel men in the hammer. Fellow seniors Bryson Smith (68.07m/223-4) and Mason Hickel (65.74m/215-8) had their best performances of the season, finishing fifth and eighth respectively to give Ole Miss 15 points from the event. Since 2024, Ole Miss has averaged 20.7 points in the SEC men's hammer final – with Robinson-O'Hagan and Hickel scoring in all three instances.
In the women's hammer, fellow All-American and junior Akaoma Odeluga earned her first career medal in the event following her best performance as a Rebel.
All four of Odeluga's legal throws registered as career-bests, with her best of the day coming in the fifth round at a four-foot PR of 67.19m/220-5. That distance won her the bronze medal and improves on her spot at No. 5 in Ole Miss history, and increases the boundary of her status as one of two collegians all-time (alongside Arizona State national champion Maggie Ewen) at 63 feet in the shot put and now 220 feet in the hammer.
This is the fifth career SEC medal for Odeulga, who now has 41 career points scored at the conference meet. Odeluga is entered in both the shot put and discus across the next two days, and she stands as the current SEC leader in the shot put at her No. 7 collegiate all-time performance of 19.23m/63-01.25.
Fellow junior Skylar Soli made her third straight SEC hammer final, finishing ninth at a season-best 60.97m/200-0.
The Rebel men closed the night with a pair of scoring performances from stalwart seniors Kidus Misgina and Aiden Britt in the 10K. Misgina was fifth at 29:46.70 and Britt was seventh at 29:53.14, the second tandem scoring performance for the duo this season after Britt took fourth and Misgina sixth indoors in the SEC 5K final.
Ole Miss also received two crucial qualifying performances on the track in the men's 200-meter and 800-meter prelims.
In the 200, sophomore Jordan Urrutia took care of business with a win in the first heat at an outdoor wind-legal PR 20.65 (+1.4), earning an auto-bid to Saturday's final. Urrutia is the first Rebel to qualify for the SEC final in the 200-meter dash since Elijah Dryer finished eighth in 2021.
Freshman Patchnalie Compere nearly made her way into the women's 200-meter dash final, but came up a tenth of a second shy at 22.98 (+0.3).
Competition resumes for Ole Miss at 3:30 p.m. CT on Friday with the women's shot put final.

That early trouble nearly doomed him, though, as Robinson-O'Hagan was staring a possible foul-out in the face on his third attempt with two prior scratches. But the now 12-time SEC Champion found the sector legally on that third attempt at 70.79m/232-3, entering the final in second place behind Missouri's Sam Innes (71.65m/235-1).Tarik's final SEC hammer title did not come easy after fouling his first two attempts and sitting in 2nd place through four rounds, but this 5th attempt 72.69m/238' 6" was still good enough to take the win by 3 feet 😤#HottyToddy x #SECTF pic.twitter.com/zWUXEtAjzI

Tomorrow, Robinson-O'Hagan will go for his third consecutive outdoor shot put win for the overall men's record and a tie of the overall record across men's and women's competition.Four years, four hammer titles 🏆🏆🏆🏆
