Volleyball Set for ‘Showdown at the Net’ vs. Clemson

OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss volleyball program is set to host Clemson to complete a home swing, facing off against the Tigers on Tuesday night at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center.
The Rebels (5-2, 0-0 SEC) face off against the Tigers (5-1, 0-0 ACC) in the annual 'Showdown at the Net', as SEC programs face off against ACC programs across the nation this week. The match is set for 6 p.m. CT and will be streamed via SEC Network Plus.
RALLY POINTS
Ole Miss and Clemson have played a highly competitive all-time series, with the series tied at 2-2 overall. The last meeting occurred in 2009, with all four previous matchups coming at a neutral site.
LAST TIME OUT
The Ole Miss volleyball program delivered a convincing home sweep of the Rebel Volleyball Classic, downing Southern Miss, 3-1, on Saturday, before sweeping past Central Arkansas, 3-0, on Sunday. It was a huge weekend for Melia Johnson, who opened with her first collegiate double-double of 14 kills and 14 digs on a blistering .522 hitting percentage to beat Southern Miss, before leading the Rebels with 12 kills on .458 hitting in the sweep of Central Arkansas. It was also a great week for Jorda Crook, who recorded her best weekend as a Rebel so far, headlined by a 23-kill performance to defeat the Golden Eagles.

Ole Miss libero Cameron Bradley had a season debut to remember, tallying an NCAA leading 78 digs over the first three matches of the season on her way to SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Bradley bested her previous career-high in digs in all three matches, headlined by a 30-dig performance in the finale against LMU. Additionally, Bradley notched a career-best five assists on two occasions and led the team with six service aces to help pace the Rebels in two key wins over Southeastern Louisiana and Northern Arizona.
Bradley is in her first season as the starting libero following the graduation of all-time digs leader Cammy Niesen and has seamlessly stepped into the rotation. Bradley continues to lead the NCAA in total digs at 155, while the Austin, Texas native also ranks third in the nation in digs per set with 5.34 and appears poised for a breakout campaign.
TIME TO CROOK
The Rebels made a big splash in the transfer portal entering this season, adding UAB opposite Jorda Crook to the program. A native of Ohatchee, Ala., Crook made her mark in three seasons as a Blazer, earning two All-AAC First Team honors and taking home five AAC Player of the Week awards, becoming the first UAB volleyball player to ever accomplish the feat.
Crook follows a growing path of impact transfers into the program. Head coach Bre Henry and her staff have developed 400-kill hitters in back-to-back seasons, with Crook entering the fold on the heels of 394 kills as a junior at UAB. Crook has registered 933 kills, 370 digs, 192.0 total blocks, and 57 aces over her career and adds a dynamic piece to the offensive attack.
THE ROAD AHEAD
In addition to an already played scrimmage against Arkansas State, who reached the postseason last year, the Rebels are set to face seven teams that made the 2025 NCAA Tournament this season.
So far, the Rebels have downed Central Arkansas, who reached the tournament last season, while earning key early wins over Northern Arizona and Ohio State.
Additionally, the list of teams does not include several quality opponents that the Rebels are slated to face throughout conference play that did not reach the NCAA Tournament, as well as the upcoming matches against Clemson and Grand Canyon to end non-conference play.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
Shayla Meyer enters her final collegiate season with eyes on the record books. This season, Meyer moved into sole possession of eighth place in the rally scoring era in service aces and now has 78 in her career. Her 32 aces in 2025 marked Meyer's second straight season with 30 or more service aces.
A third-consecutive 30-ace season would be enough to allow Meyer to become just the second Rebel in the rally scoring era to tally 100 or more service aces and put pressure on becoming the all-time leader in the era.
Additionally, Meyer also has eyes on several longer-term milestones, including 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Meyer currently sits at 820 kills and 669 digs in her standout Rebel tenure.
SCOUTING CLEMSON
The Clemson Tigers enter Tuesday's action at 5-1 overall, as winners of four straight matches, following a home sweep of the Clemson Invitational. It wasn't always easy for the Tigers and head coach Jackie Simpson Kirr, as the Tigers dropped at least one set in all three matches to UNC Greensboro, East Carolina and Appalachian State, with the latter going five sets.
Simpson Kirr is looking to build on last season's 18-14 campaign in her sixth season at the helm of the program. Much of the offense this season has gone through the youthful pin duo of freshman Maddie Anspaugh and sophomore Anika Groom. Groom has been the more efficient of the two, hitting .225 through the first six matches. Much like the Rebels, the defense is paced by an elite libero in Claire Luoma, who leads the ACC in digs with 111. While the defense and ACC leading 15.69 digs per set are highlights for the Tigers, the serving is not a strength in the early part of the season, as the Tigers rank just 300th in the nation in aces per set at only 1.04.
