Louis Vazquez is in his fourth year as an assistant coach with Ole Miss track & field and cross country in 2025-26, his sixth in total after serving as a volunteer assistant across the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
Vazquez returned to Oxford after two seasons at UMass Lowell, where he was an assistant coach for track and cross country with the River Hawks. While there, Vazquez helped lead UMass Lowell to five of six possible conference championships across the cross country, indoor and outdoor seasons in 2021-22 and 2022-23 -- including a men's triple crown his last season there. UMass Lowell also claimed two cross country conference titles and its first-ever indoor track championship in 2023. Included among Vazquez's accolades was coaching a new school record in the men's 1K at 2:22.05.
With the Rebels as a volunteer coach, Vazquez assisted with day-to-day coaching responsibilities with the cross country and distance programs. He also oversaw all aspects of recruitment for junior, senior and transfer students, including hosting official visits. He was part of the 2019 Ole Miss men's cross country SEC Champion team, and was crucial in the mentoring of some of the best runners in the nation. On the track, Vazquez helped push the Rebels toward some of the best team finishes in program history, highlighted by an NCAA runner-up performance by the men's distance medley relay in 2021 that ran the fourth-fastest time in world history.
Prior to his time with Ole Miss, Vazquez served as a team manager at his alma mater Villanova, assisting with operations, recruitment, equipment, oversight of home meets and social media. As a former distance specialist, Vazquez worked directly with the distance athletes during practices to help hone their craft.
Vazquez was a four-year member of the Villanova cross country program and a three-year competitor on the track & field team. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Vazquez graduated from Villanova in 2019 with a degree in comprehensive sciences.
