OXFORD, Miss. - Sherika Wright, a 5-6 guard from Augusta, Ga., and Tywanna Inmon, a 6-1 forward from West Memphis, Ark., have signed national letters of intent to attend Ole Miss beginning in the 2000-01 academic year, Lady Rebel head coach Ron Aldy announced Wednesday. Wright and Inmon are the first two signees of the early signing period which began on Wednesday.

Wright, a sophomore at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Fla., has averaged 19 points through the first two games in the 1999-2000 season. Rated as one of the top six JUCO guards by All-Star Girls Basketball Report, Wright earned All-Region honors her freshman year averaging 13 points and 5 assists per game. She led the Lady Commodores, coached by Roomie Scoval, to a 31-4 overall record last year and and a fourth place finish at the National JUCO Tournament. At Josey high school, Wright led her team to the State Championship her junior and senior years and was named Miss Basketball in Georgia her senior year.

"Sherika's a very gifted athlete that can run, jump, handle the ball, and score," Aldy said. "She is an impact player for Gulf Coast Community College that has already helped lead them to one national tournament and will likely accomplish that feat again this year. Above all, Sherika is a fine young lady and we are excited to have her join our Lady Rebel family."

Coached by Sheila Burns at West Memphis High School, Inmon averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per game as a junior last year. She helped lead her team to a 26-5 overall record and the 5A State Championship game. In additino, Inmon also earned All-State honors during her sophomore year.

"Tywanna is also a very gifted athlete that helps fill some of our needs," Aldy said. She possesses size, strength and an agressiveness to play inside. She also has the skills and the finesse to play the perimeter. She too is a fine young lady that will fit in extremely well with the rest of our Lady Rebels."

The Lady Rebels will host their second exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 13 against Australia. Game time is 5:00 p.m. at Tad Smith Coliseum. Ole Miss opens the regular season with a home contest on Friday, Nov. 19 versus Memphis at 5:00 p.m.
