Men's Golf Finishes Fifth In Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. - Jon Bartlett fired a final-round 75 to finish seventh and lead the Ole Miss men's golf team to fifth place at the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate. The Rebels moved up four spots on the final day and finished with a 300-292-299--891.
North Florida held onto the lead to capture the team title with 296-282-302--880, followed by Middle Tennessee State, College of Charleston and UAB all with a 54-hole score of 889.
Bartlett, a senior from Ocala, Fla., slid up one spot from round two and carded a 73-69-75--217 to finish one stroke over par and six behind North Florida's David Bennett, who won the individual crown in a playoff with Charleston's Jedd McLuen. It is Bartlett's second straight top-10 finish and the fifth of his Ole Miss career.
Also for the Rebels, Phil Caravia posted his third career top-20 finish with his best tournament of the fall. The junior from Belleville, Ill., tied for 17th with a 74-76-73--223. Andrew Medley, a sophomore from Jackson, Miss., and Troy Muller, a junior from Braithwaite, La., placed in a tie for 38th with a score of 228. Junior Cedric Denis shot a final-round 74 to card a 232.
Ole Miss closes out its fall season by placing in the top five of its final three tournaments. The Rebels are next in action Feb. 12-13 at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., as Ole Miss makes its push for a return trip to the NCAA Championships.
