OXFORD, Miss. -- Sophomore Jeff McAvoy pitched his first career complete game and shutout to lead Ole Miss to a 9-0 victory over LSU and keep the Rebels' post-season hopes alive.

Ole Miss, now 29-23 overall and 12-15 in the SEC, needs to win Sunday's series-finale with the Tigers and have Mississippi State defeat Arkansas to earn the final wild card spot to the SEC Tournament starting next Wednesday in Birmingham.

The loss kept LSU from clinching the SEC regular season title and it marked the first time the Tigers had been shut out in 157 games. The last time LSU (41-14, 21-8 SEC) was shut out was April 7, 1996 by South Carolina, 2-0.

McAvoy held the Tigers to just six hits and walked two while striking out seven to improve to 5-5 on the year.

Junior Josh Huisman went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Rebels. He hit a solo home run in the sixth to give Ole Miss a 4-0 lead and added an RBI double during a five-run eighth inning.

Junior Brad Henderson and sophomore Chad Hill also added home runs for Ole Miss, both coming in the eighth inning.

Randy Kiesler suffered the loss for LSU, going 7 2/3 innings, allowing all nine runs - six of them earned - while striking out six and allowing just one walk.
