OXFORD, Miss. Latasha Harris, of Texarkana, Ark., has signed a national letter of intent to join the Ole Miss women's basketball program for the 1999-2000 year, head coach Ron Aldy announced Wednesday.

Harris, a 6-3 post player, hails from Arkansas Senior High School where she prepped under Nancy Cherry. A first-team All-State selection, Harris averaged 12.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while leading her team to a 14-11 record. During her junior year, Harris led her to team to the Arkansas State Tournament.

We are excited to have Latasha join our program and our family, Aldy said. AWe feel that in addition to being a fine young lady, she is a tremendous athlete. She brings size and a lot of athleticism to our team and fits a need in our post area. We feel like with some work that she can come in and contribute right away.

An outstanding athlete, Harris is also a member of the track team at Arkansas Senior High School, and holds the state record in the high jump with a mark of 5'9". Harris joins Kayla Madewell of Farmington, Ark., Shayla Day of New Madrid, Mo., and Leah Henley of Warren, Ark., who signed with the Lady Rebels in the early signing period in November.
