ATHENS, Ga. - Sebastien DeChaunac, the nation's No. 1 player and seeded second at the NCAA Championships, fell to 19th-ranked John Roddick of Georgia in the second round Thursday. DeChaunac ends the season with a 22-7 record.

DeChaunac jumped on Roddick early in the match and won the opening set 6-3, but Roddick came back to win the final two sets, 7-6(5), 6-4. DeChaunac was serving with a 4-2 lead in the third set, but Roddick won the final four games for the win.

"I knew he (Roddick) was tired afer playing five straight days, but instead of playing my game, I tried to play a different game," DeChaunac said. "Instead of just putting the ball in play, I should have went for the shots. I was waiting for him to make some mistakes and it wasn't the right strategy. I didn't play well enough to beat him."

The two had played once prior to today's match, with DeChaunac winning in straight sets. He will be an All-American for the second year in a row, as a result of being seeded No. 2 in the NCAA Championships.
