Rebel Netters To Begin SEC Play With Arkansas

OXFORD, Miss. - The fifth-ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team will open Southeastern Conference play Friday against the University of Arkansas Razorbacks at 1:30 p.m., at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

The Rebels, enter the match with a 8-2 overall record. They have won three in a row and are coming off a 7-0 win over Samford on Tuesday. Arkansas comes into the match at 6-2 overall, 0-2 in the SEC. The Razorbacks got by Southwestern Louisiana 4-3, in their last outing.

Arkansas, ranked No. 39 in the nation, is led by Tim Crichton, who is 4-3 at the No. 1 position, and Tom Hamilton, who owns a 6-1 record at No. 2 singles. Crichton and Hamilton are 7-1 at No. 1 doubles and currently ranked No. 3 in the nation.

Ole Miss is going for a three-peat in the SEC this year after winning back-to-back SEC Championships in 1996 and 1997. The Rebels are led by 18th-ranked Sebastien DeChaunac, who is 7-2 at the top spot.

The Rebels handed Arkansas a 5-2 defeat last year in Fayetteville. The last time the two teams met in Oxford, Ole Miss also won 5-2.
