OXFORD, Miss. - After reviewing the tie-breaking policy in the Commissioner's Regulations, the Southeastern Conference concluded that a three-way tiebreaker had been misapplied. Ole Miss will now face Kentucky in the first round of the SEC Tournament instead of Mississippi State as announced on Sunday.
Kentucky, Alabama and Mississippi State finished play with identical 7-7 SEC records. The league originally awarded Alabama the fifth-seed, Kentucky sixth and Mississippi State seventh. After further review, it was determined that MSU would be the sixth seed and Kentucky seventh since the Lady Bulldogs had defeated Kentucky in regular season play.
The Lady Rebels (15-11, 6-8), seeded 10th, will meet the seventh-seeded Wildcats (18-9, 7-7) at 2:30 p.m. in the UTC-Arena in Chattanooga, Tenn. The winner will go on to play No. 2 seed LSU on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
