Ole Miss Finishes Second At Men's Golf Intercollegiate Tourney

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Ole Miss men's golf team finished in second place here Tuesday at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Intercollegiate at the Old Memorial Golf Course. The Rebels shot a final round score of 288 to compile a 54-hole total of 866 (292-286-288). It was the Rebels' best finish since placing second at the Birkdale Collegiate Golf Classic on March 11-12, 2000. The University of Florida finished with a three-round total of 858 (280-293-285), eight strokes ahead of the Rebels.

Ole Miss senior Troy Muller of Braithwaite, La., won the tournament's individual title as he carded a final round score of 69 for a 54-hole total of 211 (74-68-69). It was Muller's first individual championship and his best finish since he placed fifth at the Tennessee Tournament of Champions in 1999. It marked the first individual championship for Ole Miss since former Rebel golfer Haymes Snedeker won the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate in 1999.

Andrew Medley (72-71-75) and Tommy Clement (74-73-71) tied for 14th place with a three-round total of 218. Phil Caravia finished in a tie for 40th place with a three-round total of 224 (72-79-73), and Robert Dreyfus finished tied for 43rd place with a score of 225 (74-74-77).

The Rebels will be back in action on Oct. 29-31, when they will travel to Baton Rouge, La., to participate in the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate.
