OXFORD, Miss. - Catesha Riley, a 5-7 sophomore guard from Meridian Community College has signed with the Ole Miss women's basketball program Lady Rebel head coach Ron Aldy announced Tuesday.
Riley, a native of Kosciusko, was named to the 2000 NJCAA All-Tournament team. Through the first three games of the 2000-01 season, Riley was averaging 18.7 points, 4 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game.
Catesha is an outstanding addition to the Lady Rebel program, to go along with our post signee Amber Watts, Aldy said. She can do so many things on the floor. She can shoot the ball and passes well. We are excited to have her joining our Lady Rebel family.
As a prep star at Kosciusko High School, Riley averaged 23 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocked shots per game as a senior. She was named All-District five years and named Outstanding Point Guard.
Catesha has had a life-long dream to play for the University of Mississippi, MCC head coach Hilary Allen said. Attending MCC has given Catesha that second chance to fulfill that dream. Riley joins Watts, a 6-3 center/forward of Hinds AHS, as the early signees for the Lady Rebels. The Lady Rebels are 2-0 after capturing the Vermont Howard Bank Classic this past weekend.
