The two runs by Nicholls State in the fourth inning snapped the Rebels' pitching staff scoreless inning streak at 12 2/3 innings to start the season.

Redshirt freshman RHP Joseph Liberto and freshman RHP Brett Young both made their Ole Miss debuts this afternoon.

Junior C Carl Lafferty picked two runners off base today and threw two runners out stealing. As a team, Ole Miss picked three Nicholls State runners off base.

Nicholls State starter Ronald Gilchrist retired the last 15 batters he faced after giving up a lead-off single to Clint Farrar in the third. Gilchrist was relieved in the top of the eighth by Chet Chambless.

Clint Farrar's two-out single in the eighth snapped a string of 17 straight retired Ole Miss batters by Nicholls State pitchers Gilchrist and Chet Chambless.
