Rebels Finish Sixth At Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Ole Miss men's golf team fired a final-round 277, Sunday's third-lowest score, to place sixth at the Gator Invitational. Jon Bartlett led the Rebels with a 71-70-69 to finish in a tie for 16th.
The host Florida won the tournament by 19 strokes with a 54-hole score of 815. Augusta State ranked second with an 834 and North Florida third with an 839. In its spring opener, Ole Miss carded a 281-287-277--845, one stroke out of the top five.
Bartlett, a senior from Ocala, Fla., posted his seventh career top 20 finish and third of the 1999-2000 season. Junior Phil Caravia and sophomore Andrew Medley tied for 30th in the Gator with a three-round total of 213. Troy Muller shot a 216 to place 37th, and Chris Malloy tallied a 218 to rank 44th.
Ole Miss continues its push for a second straight NCAA Tournament birth on Feb. 21 and 22 at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate in Jacksonville, Fla.
