Softball Wins All Three Games Sunday

OXFORD, Miss. - The Rebels softball team wrapped up the Ole Miss Invitational by going 3-0 on Sunday. Ole Miss finished the tournament with a 4-2 record a second-place finish.
The Evansville Aces took first place in the tournament with a 5-1 record, while Nicholls St. finished third with an 0-6 record.
After winning three games, the Rebels overall mark stands at 4-7.
In game one, Ole Miss put up two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to overcome a 1-0 deficit to Nicholls St. Heather Swinney doubled home Amanda Lehotak and later scored on a double steal.
Ole Miss added another run in the bottom of the sixth when Mandy Shklar singled in Swinney. Lindsey Price, who relieved starter Brittany Maxey, held Nicholls St. hitless in the seventh to record her first save and give Ole Miss a 3-1 win.
In game two, Holly Burris doubled home Swinney and Kaci Coffee for a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Phyllis Manley drove in Shklar in the fourth and scored on a double by Lehotak in the sixth to give Ole Miss a 4-0 win.
Burris, who improved to 2-1 on the season, held Evansville scoreless and did not allow a hit past the third inning.
In the final game, Lehotak ripped her first collegiate home run in the bottom of the first inning to give the Rebels a 1-0 lead. Nicholls St. tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth, but the Rebels answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Swinney doubled home Rachel Davenport and later scored on a single by Allison Willrath. Jennifer Hughes allowed only three hits in picking up the win.
The Rebels travel to Norma, Okla., for the Oklahoma Adidas Invitational on Feb. 25-27.
