OXFORD, Miss. - Kentucky's Natalie Martinez nailed a huge three-pointer with 36 seconds left in the game to to give the Wildcats all they needed to go on and defeat the Ole Miss women's basketball team 59-57 Thursday at Tad Smith Coliseum.

Ole Miss (11-15, 0-13) got off to a hot start taking a 7-0 lead on two layups by Frankie Boyd and a three-pointer from Becky Myatt. Kentucky would answer with a 12-5 run to tie the game at the 10:37 mark. The first half remained close, with Ole Miss taking a 26-25 lead into the locker room.

"We didn't do the little things offensively or defensively to give ourselves a chance to win," head coach Ron Aldy said. "It's hard to believe we couldn't carry out the simple things in a game. We looked absentminded on the court during certain situations, and that disappointed me the most."

The Wildcats (14-12, 5-8) came out in the second half and went up 39-32 with 11:19 remaining, but Ole Miss used a 7-2 run to cut it to two (41-39) with 6:09 left in the game. Kentucky's Martinez hit one of her five three-pointers to give the Wildcats a five point advantage (44-39) with 5:47 to go in the game.

Kentucky led by eight (53-45) with 1:06 remaining, when Chandra Dorsey hit a three to make it 53-48, before Martinez answered with a three. Myatt hit a three with three seconds left to make it 59-57.

"Even though we got killed on the boards, we still had a chance to win the game," Aldy said. "The intensity just wasn't as hard as it had been two out of the last three games on the road."

Boyd and Dorsey each finished with 12 points to lead the Lady Rebels. Myatt added 11 points, including three three-pointers. The Lady Rebels shot 32.3 percent from the floor and only 26.3 from behind the arc.

Kentucky was led by Martinez, who scored 15 points and was 5-of-9 from three-point range. Tiffany Wait chipped in 13 points, while LaTonya McDole grabbed 10 rebounds. The Wildcats shot 47.7 percent from the floor and outrebounded Ole Miss 43-31.

The Lady Rebels will close out the regular season Sunday at home against Arkansas. They will honor the three seniors prior to the game.
