Men's Golf Finishes Second At Birkdale Collegiate

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. - The Ole Miss men's golf team placed two players in the top ten on the way to a second place finish at the Birkdale Collegiate Golf Classic at the Birkdale Golf and Country Club.
The Rebels shot a 288-288-302--878 for their best finish of the year. Virginia Commonwealth, led by individual medalist Erik Knudsen, totaled 54-hole score of 873 to capture the team title.
Andrew Medley led Ole Miss for the first time in his career, placing eighth with a 77-68- 72--217. It was the first career top 10 finish for the sophomore from Jackson, Miss. Senior Jon Bartlett notched his second straight top ten finish, ranking ninth with a 68-74-76--218. Bartlett, a native of Ocala, Fla., has placed in the top 20 of the last six tournaments.
Phil Caravia earned his second top 20 finish of the year. The junior from Belleville, Ill., carded a 72-70-79--221 to tie for 13th. Junior Troy Muller tied for 22nd with a 73-76-75--224, while sophomore Brendan Fisher, competing in his first career event with the Rebels, fired a 75- 76-81--232 to rank 54th.
Ole Miss will be shooting for its sixth top five finish of the year March 17-19 at the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate in Opelika, Ala., as the Rebels continue their push for a return trip to the NCAA Championships.
