The Rebels (15-9, 4-3 SEC) recorded five straight one-out hits during the six-run third, including RBI doubles from Jude Voltz and Burney Hutchinson. Chad Hill had a two-out RBI single to make the score 5-0 and chase Vanderbilt starter Chris Maultsby.
Ole Miss freshman Brett Young (1-0) worked six innings, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks, and struck out three in earning his first career win.

Adam Blue's two-run home run, his fourth of the year, in the fifth cut the Rebels' lead to 6-2, and the Commodores got a run in the sixth on Karl Nonemaker's RBI single. Vanderbilt scored two more runs in the seventh, taking advantage of an Ole Miss error.
Ole Miss added an insurance run in the eighth on Carl Lafferty's single to left that scored Clint Farrar.
Justin Huisman then came on to throw a perfect ninth inning to record his fifth save of the year.
Lafferty lead the Rebels in hitting going 3-for-4 with a RBI. Glen Morris hit two doubles to go 2-for-5 on the night, and Voltz was 1-for-3 with a RBI to extend his hitting streak to a career best 11 games.
Kevin Geshke and Blue both had two hits each for the Commodores.
Ole Miss out-hit Vanderbilt 12-7.
Maultsby (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks.
