With his win tonight, senior RHP Jeff McAvoy has won nine consecutive decisions at home. The last time McAvoy was credited with a loss at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field was on April 4, 1998 against South Carolina.
McAvoy is now 11-2 with a 3.12 ERA (109.2 IP, 38 ER) in 20 career appearances in Oxford.
Junior C Carl Lafferty singled in the eighth to extend his hitting streak to a career-best 10 games. Lafferty is hitting .541 (20-37) during the 10-game streak.
Senior OF Chad Hill went 3-for-3 to tie his career high for hits.
The 9-3 start is the best 12-game start by the Rebels since also getting off to a 9-3 beginning in 1997.
