Ole Miss Golf Finishes 11th At Ping-Arizona Intercollegiate

TUCSON, Ariz.-- After first-round play was suspended on Monday due to darkness, the Ole Miss men's golf team resumed play Tuesday at the Ping-Arizona Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Arizona. The Rebels shot a final round score of 285 for a 54-hole total of 880 (295-300-285--880).
Earlier in the day, second-round play was completed and the Rebels fell from ninth place, which it had after the first round, to 17th place with a second-round score of 300.
The Rebels' final round of 285, which tied their season-best mark set at the Henry Griffitts/Baylor Invitational on Nov.6-7, 2000, rallied them to an 11th place finish in the tournament.
Ole Miss' Andrew Medley finished in ninth place overall with a 68-76-78--212. This was Medley's third career top 10 finish. J.J. Thompson, who saw his first action for the Rebels, finished tied for 34th place with a 76-72-70--218. Troy Muller, carded a 77-74-74--225, to tie for 54th place. Buck Purselley finished tied for 80th place with a 74-78-79--231. Robert Dreyfus, who withdrew from the second round, carded a 73 in the final round.
The Rebels will be back in action on Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 10-11, when they travel to Gainesville, Fla., to play in the Gator Invitational.
