OXFORD, Miss. - It was a career night for many Lady Rebels as senior center Saundra Jackson poured in a career-high 24 points and freshman guard Ally Kelly added 18 points and seven steals to help push Ole Miss (4-1) to a 101-57 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock (1-4) on Tuesday night at Tad Smith Coliseum.
Ole Miss had four players score in double digits for the second-straight game, and broke the century mark for the first time since the 1998-99 season when the Lady Rebels scored 100 against Florida Atlantic. It was the most points scored by Ole Miss since the 1994-95 season and also the most points scored during the Ron Aldy era.
"Tonight was a good game to get everyone on the team some quality minutes," said Ole Miss head coach Ron Aldy. "It was encouraging to see that our level of play did not drop when we made substitutions. I was especially pleased with the last four minutes of the first half, our intensity was outstanding."
The Lady Rebels battled the Indians back and forth to a 26-22 lead before using its defense to explode to a 47-28 halftime lead. Kelly sparked the Lady Rebels in the first half with 16 of her 18 points while Jackson recorded 12 of her 24 points.
"It felt really good to be able to step up and score some points for us," said Jackson. "It was a big step for me. I just need to continue working hard every day to be able to produce the same results each game."
Senior guard Von Kirk and freshman guard Carletta Brown also notched double digits for the Lady Rebels. Kirk recorded 12 points while Brown put up 10 for Ole Miss. Sophomore forward Tywanna Inmon added nine points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Lady Rebels on the boards. Senior guard Sherika Wright dished out a career-high nine assists in her 20 minutes of action.
Ole Miss shot 42 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free throw line for the night. The Lady Rebels came up with 28 steals on the night, the second highest steal total in Ole Miss history.
Arkansas-Little Rock shot 38 percent from the floor and 76 percent from the free throw line in the losing effort. The Trojans were forced into 44 turnovers on the night by a tenacious Ole Miss defense. The Trojans held a 49-39 rebounding margin.
The Lady Rebels will return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to take on Middle Tennessee. Tip-off will be at 2 p.m. (CT).
