Ole Miss women's basketball senior guard Becky Myatt was named to the Associated Press 2000-01 All-SEC Honorable Mention Team, as the AP All-conference teams were announced Wednesday. Georgia's Kelly Miller earned Player-of-the-Year honors.
Myatt, who leads the team in scoring, is averaging 11.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 three-pointers per game. A preseason All-SEC pick, Myatt became the all-time three-point leader at Ole Miss and currently has 227 threes. In addition, Myatt became the 19th Lady Rebel to score 1,000 points in a career and ranks 15th with 1,174. She needs eight points to move into 14th on the all-time scoring list.
A constant in the Lady Rebel lineup, Myatt has started every game of her career which totals 116 and has logged nearly 33 minutes per game. The Bon Aqua, Tenn., native is one of the top three-point shooters in the conference and has been ranked in the top three all season long. In addition to holding the career record for three-pointers, Myatt also holds the single season record with 65 set in 1998 and is tied for the most in a game with seven.
A member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll every year, Myatt is a regular member of the Dean's and the UMAA Honor Rolls. Off the court, she was named to the SEC Good Works Team. She has spent time at the retirement home and mentoring to elementary kids. She is a member of the M-Club, FCA and the Exercise Science Club.
The Lady Rebels defeated South Carolina in the opening round of the SEC Tournament, before losing to the eventual champion Georgia, in the quarterfinals. They will be waiting Sunday to hear about a possible invitation to the Women's NIT. It would Ole Miss' 16th postseason appearance.
