OXFORD, Miss. - No. 15 Ole Miss will open a three-game Southeastern Conference series with the Florida Gators Friday evening at 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. Game two of the series is 4 p.m., on Saturday and game three is 1 p.m., on Sunday.

The Rebels are looking to get back on the winning track after losing back-to-back games for the first time this season when they fell 7-6 to Arkansas State in a non-conference game on Wednesday. The loss also dropped Ole Miss to 6-7 in its last 13 games since Mar. 25.

Despite their recent struggles, the Rebels, 27-13-1 overall, are just one-game behind LSU for first-place in the overall SEC standings with an 11-7 conference mark. LSU, 28-12-1 overall, 12-6 SEC, is hosting Vanderbilt this weekend in Baton Rouge, La.

Junior right-hander Pete Montrenes will start Friday's game for Ole Miss. He is 7-3 with a 3.38 ERA and leads the SEC with 68 strikeouts. His seven wins is also tied for the most in the conference.

Montrenes has lost his last two starts at Arkansas, on Apr. 6, and at LSU last Friday. He went just 4.1 innings against the Tigers in his shortest start of the year, walking a season-high seven en route to allowing seven runs in a 15-2 loss.

Montrenes will look to rebound against a Florida team that enters the weekend leading the conference in hitting with a .324 average. The Gators have eight regulars boasting a .300 average or better, led by junior shortstop Kevin Estrada, who is hitting at a .371-clip, currently ranking third in the SEC. Florida's pitching staff, however, enters the weekend last in the league in team ERA with a 6.61.

The Gators are scheduled to send senior right-hander Keith Brice to the hill in the series-opener. Brice is 1-2 with a 9.85 ERA in 24.2 innings this season.

Florida is 26-17 on the season, 10-8 in the SEC. The Gators are tied for second in the SEC Eastern Division, a game behind first-place Tennessee.

All three games this weekend can be heard along stations on the Ole Miss Radio Network, and over the internet at www.OleMissSports.com. Check local listings for the affiliate in your area.
