IN THE POLLS: Ole Miss is ranked in all three major college baseball polls for the eighth straight week. The Rebels' highest ranking is No. 20 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30. Ole Miss is ranked No. 22 in the Baseball America Top 25 and No. 23 in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25 ... Mississippi State enters this weekend's series unranked in any of the three polls.

LAST TIME OUT: Mississippi State sent 11 batters to the plate in the third inning, piecing together six hits and two walks to score six runs to erase a 5-1 deficit and defeat No. 20 Ole Miss, 7-6, Saturday evening at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. The win clinched the weekend series for the Bulldogs as they also won Friday's series-opener 6-3. Sophomore Chris Young (3-1) worked 2.2 scoreless innings of relief for starter Tanner Brock to earn the win, and Brandon Medders retired all nine hitters he faced to record his fourth save of the year. Adam Yates (7-2) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks in 2 2/3 innings. The Bulldogs out-hit the Rebels 12-8 as Ole Miss managed just one after the fourth inning.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Mississippi State enters today's game 32-20 overall and 17-12 in the SEC. The Bulldogs are a game behind LSU for first-place in the Western Division and can claim a share of the division crown with a win today and a Tiger loss to Auburn. The Bulldogs entered the series 11th in the conference in batting with a .277 team batting average. They are 21x72 in the series for a .292 average, led by 1B Matthew Brinson, who is 4x7 (.571) in two games this weekend with five RBIs. Senior 1B/OF Jon Knott is 4x8 (.500) in the series with a RBI and enters this afternoon's contest with a team-best .353 (66x187) BA. Knott has also hit eight of the Bulldogs' 29 home runs this season. Senior OF Josh West leads the team with 44 RBIs, but is 0x9 (.000) in the series with no RBIs. Mississippi State pitchers entered the weekend with the third-best ERA in the SEC at 3.54, and allowed six earned runs in 18 innings this weekend. Rebel hitters are 21x72 (.292) in the series. For the season, opponents are hitting .241 against Bulldog pitching with 24 HRs.

SERIES INFO: Today's game marks the 392nd meeting all-time between Ole Miss and Mississippi State ... the Bulldogs lead the series 217-169-5 ... MSU leads the season series 3-0 as the Bulldogs also defeated the Rebels, 15-6, on Mar. 28 in the Mayor's Trophy game in Jackson, Miss. ... last night's win gave MSU its fourth series win over Ole Miss in the last five years, and has won 14 of the last 19 meetings during that span ... the Bulldogs' last three-game sweep of the Rebels came in 1997 in Oxford ....
