OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team defeated the BC Under-19 Select Team for the second straight day, but this time the score wasn't as close, with the Lady Rebels winning 73-43 to go 2-0 on the tour.
Junior Von Kirk led the team with 15 points followed by Sherika Wright with 13. TaShondrea Moton and Saundra Jackson each chipped in 11 points in the win. Jackson led the team on the boards with nine rebounds and Moton finished with eight.
The Lady Rebels shot 46 percent on 29-of-63 from the field and 7-of-24 from behind the arc. Ole Miss shot 8-of-10 from the charity stripe. They held British Columbia to 33 percent from the floor on 13-of-39 shooting.
"We played much better against the BC team the second time around," head coach Ron Aldy said. "We shot the ball better, and we are getting more adjusted to the bigger ball. Our defense was solid."
Prior to Monday night's game, the Lady Rebels visited the Capilano Suspension Bridge and took a skyride up to the top of Grouse Mountain during the day. Ole Miss will take a day off from competition Tuesday, to travel to the world famous resort city of Whistler, a two-hour drive from Vancouver. Things to enjoy in Whistler include shopping in Whistler Village, bike riding, or riding the chair lifts up the mountains.
The Lady Rebels next game will be Wednesday against Simon Fraser University.
