*- ACC match.
* UVa senior Brian Vahaly is again on target to set a new UVa season record for singles victories. Last season, Vahaly shattered the old record of 29 singles wins set by Justin Smith (1994-95) en route to winning 35 matches and reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA Individual Championships. Vahaly, who is a two-time All-American, was 35-5 last year.
* Vahaly is currently the 12th-ranked singles player in the country and has won 35 matches heading into the ACC Tournament.
* Fourth-year Huntley Montgomery is on pace to set a new personal record for singles matches won in a season. He is 27-8 overall and needs just three more wins to eclipse his current record of 27 wins, which he set during the 1998 season when he went 27-14. Montgomery was 7-1 in the ACC at No. 2 singles.
* Vahaly and Montgomery have experienced a great deal of success at each of the first three legs of the ITA Grand Slam. Vahaly advanced to the finals of the T. Rowe Price Clay Court Championships in the singles portion of the draw where he lost in three sets to Oskar Johansson of Arkansas. Vahaly and Montgomery then teamed in doubles where they also advanced to the finals before falling to Virginia Commonwealth's Florian Marquardt and Frank Moser. The Virginia duo avenged the loss to Marquardt and Moser with an 8-4 victory on April 4 in Charlottesville.
* Vahaly followed up his performance at the T. Row Price Clay Court Championships with a quarterfinal run at the ITA All-American. Vahaly lost to California's J.P. Fruttero in the quarterfinal round. In doubles, Vahaly and Montgomery advanced to their second consecutive final at an ITA Grand Slam event. The duo again failed in their attempt to win their first-ever grand sloam title, however, losing to Florida's Oliver Levant and Nathan Overholser in straight sets.
* Both Vahaly and Montgomery had limited success at the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. Vahaly lost in the first round of the singles draw and montgomery fell in the second round. The duo was also handed an early first-round exit in doubles.
