Hartman Advances To Quarterfinals At SEC Indoor

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Junior All-American Alex Hartman won two matches Friday to advance to the quarterfinals at the SEC Indoor Championships at the Boone Tennis Center.

In the second round Friday morning, Hartman defeated Kentucky's top player, Karim Benmansour, 6-1, 6-4. In the round of 16, Hartman downed Mississippi State's David Ruiz 6-4, 6-3.

Hartman will face Georgia's Lesley Joseph in the quarterfinal round. He is looking for his first SEC singles title after reaching the finals the last two years.

Sophomore Paul Ciorascu defeated South Carolina's Angelo Nicolescu 6-4, 7-5. Ciorascu was defeated in the round of 16 by Georgia's Nicholas Boeker 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(5).

Third round - Hartman (OM) def. David Ruiz (MSU) 6-4, 6-3, Nicholas Boeker (UGA) def. Paul Ciorascu (OM) 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(5).
