OXFORD, Miss. - In a rematch, the Ole Miss men's tennis team shut out 24th-ranked Indiana State 7-0 on a sunny Wednesday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. The Rebels also moved up to No. 9 in the latest Omni Hotel Collegiate Rankings.

Playing without the services of senior Martin Selin, the Rebels (8-3) jumped on the Sycamores (6-6) early in doubles taking the top two spots for a 1-0 lead. The Rebels improved to 7-0 when they win the doubles point.

Paul Ciorascu gave Ole Miss a 2-0 lead when he downed ISU's Henry Choi 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Freshman Catalin Gard made it 3-0 Rebels, with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lovre Brajkovic at No. 3 singles. Claes Lindholm defeated David O'Connell 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 4 spot to clinch the Rebel victory.

"It's great to be back home playing our first outdoor match," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "This was an impressive performance by our team. We are getting better with every match. We look forward to playing perhaps the strongest Auburn team in the history of their program, on Friday."

Senior Kristofer Stahlberg held off 74th-ranked Vedran Vidovic 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 2 singles to defeat his third ranked opponent in the last five matches. Patrick Chucri, playing in his first dual match of the season, came back to beat the Sycamore's Ross Johnson 6-7(3), 6-1, 6-2 on court six.

Ole Miss had clinched the match before 33rd-ranked Alex Hartman and 75th-ranked Stefan Hirn had even finished the first set on court one. Hirn edged Hartman in the first-set tiebreaker 10-8, but Hartman rallied to take the second set 6-4. With the match already decided, the two played a supertiebreaker in the third. Hartman won 11-9 to complete a Rebel sweep.

The Rebels downed Indiana State 4-0 earlier this year in the first round of the National Team Indoor.

Ole Miss will now turn its attention to a very strong Auburn team, ranked No. 13 in the national rankings. The Tigers (8-2, 3-1) come to town Friday for a 1 p.m. match.
