OXFORD, Miss. - Senior left-hander Mike Gray pitched five scoreless innings and junior right-hander T.J. Beam worked the final four innings as the two combined on a three-hitter to lead No. 15 Ole Miss to a 3-1 win over Austin Peay Monday evening at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

Gray (1-0) allowed one hit and one walk, while striking out two in his first start of the season.

Beam yielded one unearned run on two hits and one walk, and fanned six to earn his first career save.

Governor starter Mike King (1-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing two runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out six.

Ole Miss scored two runs in the fourth inning as Burney Hutchinson doubled and scored a batter later on Bryce Morrison's triple to right center. Morrison then scored on a wild pitch.

Austin Peay scored a run in the sixth as Joseph Peer scored from second on a throwing error by shortstop Chad Sterbens.

Seth Smith added an insurance run for the Rebels in the eighth with an RBI single to plate Charlie Waite.

Five different Ole Miss players picked up a hit as the Rebels out-hit the Governors 5-3.

Peer went 2-for-4 at the plate for Austin Peay.

Ole Miss will conclude its five-game, five-day home stand Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., when the Rebels host Mississippi Valley State.
