BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss junior pitcher T.J. Beam was named the Southeastern Conference's Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Beam, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound, right-hander from Scottsdale, Ariz., made three relief appearances last week, including two in this past weekend's series at then-No. 2 Alabama. He recorded the save in both of Ole Miss' wins over the Crimson Tide.

He entered Friday's contest with two outs in the eighth, and Ole Miss holding a 4-3 lead and the tying run on third. He coaxed Alabama's Adam Pavkovich to pop out to second to end the inning and then pitched a scoreless ninth to secure the win and snap the Crimson Tide's 27-game home winning streak dating back to last season.

On Sunday, he retired Alabama's No. 2, 3 and 4 hitters in order to pitch a perfect ninth inning in the Rebels' 5-2 victory in the rubber-match of the series.

Beam has a streak of 12.1 scoreless innings over his last eight appearances dating back to March 31, and has allowed just one unearned run in his last 19.1 innings over 10 outings since March 19.

For the season, Beam is 2-1 with five saves and a 2.16 ERA in 17 appearances, including 14 in relief. He is averaging 11.1 strikeouts per nine innings, having fanned 41 in 33 1/3 innings.
