Andrews Takes Fifth In Hammer Throw At SEC Championships

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Ole Miss junior thrower Stacy Andrews set a new Ole Miss record in the hammer throw with his fifth place finish at the 2002 SEC Outdoor Championships. Andrews broke his own record with his toss of 190-9. By placing in the top eight, Andrews earns All-SEC honors.

Freshman Kesia Bass also earned All-SEC honors by placing eighth in the heptathlon. Bass tallied 4,614 points in the seven events. Fellow freshman LaToya McBride finished 11th with 4,409 points.

On the track, senior Chika Chuku advanced to Sunday's 800 meter finals by clocking in at 2:08.05 in her preliminary race. Also advancing to finals was junior Willisa Heintz in the 200 meters. Heintz ran 23.67 in her preliminary race.

Competition at the 2002 SEC Outdoor Championships will continue on Saturday with competition beginning at 2 p.m.
