STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Genice Terry led three Lady Rebels in double figures with 19 points, but it was not enough to upset No. 14-ranked Mississippi State on Sunday. LaToya Thomas scored 37 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs past Ole Miss, 70-62, on Sunday.

The Lady Rebels (12-13, 1-11) took their only lead of the game at 5-2, before letting MSU go on a 8-0 run and pull out to a 10-5 lead with 15:09 remaining in the first half. Thomas scored six points during the run, on the way to 18 first-half points.

Mississippi State (20-6, 8-4)took their largest lead of the first half at 19-10, before Ole Miss closed the gap to one heading to the break down 27-26. Amber Watts scored six points, Ashley Johnson scored four points and Terry added four during the stretch.

The Lady Bulldogs put the defensive clamps on Ole Miss to open the second half, outscoring the Lady Rebels 23-10 during the first 10 minutes of the second frame. MSU forced eight turnovers during the run.

Ole Miss never gave up, despite being down as many as 18 points in the second half and finished the game on a 14-5 run for the final margin of 70-62.

In addition to Terry, Johnson and Watts finished in double figures with 16 points and 11 points, respectively. Terry also led Ole Miss with a career-high nine rebounds as the Lady Rebels out-rebounded MSU 47-35. Ellen Buchanan came off-the-bench to score seven points and grab six boards as the Ole Miss bench out-scored the Lady Bulldog bench 23-7.

Thomas finished with a game high 37 points, on 13-of-21 shooting from the field and 11-of-11 from the free throw line. Thomas also led MSU on the boards with eight caroms. Tan White scored 18 points and also had eight rebounds to go along with five steals and five assists.

The Lady Rebels connected on 21-of-57 shots from the field, good for 36.8 percent. They made 6-of-16 from beyond the arc and hit 14-of-21 free throws.

MSU made 26-of-62 from the field, good for 41.9 percent. The Lady Bulldogs connected on just 2-of-15 three pointers and made 16-of-20 from the charity stripe.

Ole Miss will complete the road portion of their 2002-03 schedule when they travel to Gainesville, Fla., on Thursday to take on Florida. Game time is set for 6 p.m. (CT) at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
