Ole Miss To Open SEC Play With Kentucky

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss will open its Southeastern Conference schedule this weekend when the Rebels host the Kentucky Wildcats in a three-game series beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. Game two of the series is set for 1:30 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday's series-finale is also scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Fans are reminded parking in Lots C and D near Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field will have a five- dollar charge all three days this weekend.
Ole Miss (10-6) enters the weekend having won four of its last five after splitting a pair of midweek games. The Rebels dropped a 3-2 decision to Arkansas State Tuesday night in Oxford and downed Memphis 5-1 Wednesday evening at AutoZone Park.
Kentucky (7-8) comes into the weekend having been swept in a two-game midweek series by Indiana State in Lexington. The Sycamores defeated the Wildcats 9-0 on Tuesday and 7-3 on Wednesday.
Ole Miss is scheduled to start freshman right-hander Mark Holliman (3-0, 2.19 ERA) in Friday's series opener. Senior right-hander T.J. Beam (2-0, 1.83 ERA) is slated to start on Saturday and sophomore right-hander Alan Horne (3-2, 3.86 ERA) is scheduled to take the hill in Sunday's series-finale.
Senior right-hander Scott Wade (0-2, 5.40 ERA) is expected to take the mound for the Wildcats on Friday, followed by junior left-hander Heath Castle (1-0, 2.37 ERA) on Saturday and junior right-hander Seth Stanley (1-1, 2.35 ERA) on Sunday.
Freshman first baseman Stephen Head continues to pace the Rebels at the plate, entering the weekend with a .429 average. Head also has two home runs and 13 runs batted in. Freshman infielder/outfielder Brian Pettway is batting .385 with 10 RBIs. Senior shortstop Chad Sterbens is batting .284 with one homer and a team-high 19 RBIs, and enters the series needing five hits to become the ninth player in school history to record 200 career hits.
Junior infielder Spencer Graeter is leading Kentucky with a .328 average and has two homers and seven RBIs. Junior first baseman Mike Breyman is batting .327 and leads the team with three home runs. Breyman is also tied for the team-lead in RBIs with eight.
